ABSTRACT 

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of teacher communication skills on the learning motivation of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Dawarblandong. The factors of teacher communication skills and student learning motivation studied refer to the jigsaw type cooperative learning model on the subject of the human respiratory system. The jigsaw type cooperative learning model is assessed according to the material characteristics of the human respiratory system by considering aspects of the role of the teacher's communication skills on student learning motivation. The type of research used is a quantitative descriptive approach using observation and filling out questionnaires. Filling out the questionnaire was done by distributing questionnaires to students who were sample classes. The population in this study were class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Dawarblandong. The research subjects were 32 students in class VIII-1. The instrument used was a teacher's communication skills questionnaire

totaling 11 questions, a student learning motivation questionnaire totaling 11 questions, and learning implementation sheets. Data analysis techniques on teacher communication skills and student learning motivation used the mean value, for the implementation of jigsaw type cooperative learning used the mode value with the lowest score 3, and on the influence of teacher communication skills on student motivation using product moment correlation. The results of this study were that the learning motivation of class VIII-1 students of SMP Negeri 1 Dawarblandong was high, the communication skills of the science teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Dawarblandong were good, the jigsaw type cooperative learning model was implemented on the material of the human respiratory system.
